Understanding Employee Informal Deviance

Abstract

Employee informal deviance—behavior that goes against workplace norms without legal consequences—can substantially affect workplace culture, motivation, relationships, and productivity. This review examines the influence of socioeconomic status, power gaps, social norms, informal leadership, and organizational structures on employee behavior. It emphasizes the importance of addressing informal deviance in order to sustain supportive and productive work environments.
